New Delhi, September 3 (HS): The National Medical Commission has granted approval for the establishment of a new government medical college in Kerala’s Wayanad district, a decision that drew an enthusiastic response from Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who described it as the realization of a long-cherished dream.

Sharing her thoughts on social media platform X, she credited the development to the persistent efforts of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and the collective prayers of the people of Wayanad. Calling the approval a “welcome step,” Priyanka conveyed her gratitude to those who supported the cause and insisted that this marks a significant move toward strengthening healthcare services in the region.

She further urged the state government to expedite the construction process so the medical college can be made operational at the earliest. Extending congratulations to all those who had been awaiting this moment for years, she appealed to everyone to contribute toward the welfare and progress of Wayanad’s people.

It is noteworthy that on Tuesday, the National Medical Commission cleared the way for two new government medical colleges in Kerala—one in Wayanad and another in Kasaragod district.
