Guwahati, 03 September (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set its focus on a peaceful, secure, and developed Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) as it heads into the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections 2025. The party filed nominations for candidates in 30 constituencies, while thousands of karyakartas today intensified efforts to connect with people across the region.
BJP Spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami highlighted that peace in Bodoland was first restored through the Bodo Accord in 2003, signed under the leadership of Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and then Union Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani. Later, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the BTR Accord of 2020 brought together all Bodo groups, paving the way for greater stability.
Goswami stated that under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership, the Assam Government has eliminated ethnic unrest and created a climate of unity and development in the region. Infrastructure initiatives such as new roads, bridges, hospitals and medical colleges have reshaped BTR, ensuring equal progress in all five districts.
The BJP has pledged inclusive growth for the area’s population of over 31 lakh, covering 2,272 villages in the Tribal Belt & Block, 618 villages outside it, and 189 forest villages. Along with promoting the Bodo language and culture, the party has promised equal support for the traditions, culture and development of all communities.
“With the vision of inclusive progress and the goal of forming the BTC, BJP is entering this election with full commitment to peace, security, and balanced growth,” Goswami said.
