Kolkata, 3 September (H.S.): The controversy over the cancellation of teaching jobs has intensified the political debate in West Bengal. On Tuesday, a group of terminated candidates, led by Suman Biswas, wrote to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, urging them to convene a special session of the Assembly on September 4 to discuss the matter.
The School Service Commission (SSC) has already released a list of “ineligible” candidates. However, aspirants deemed “eligible” insist they should not be compelled to reappear for examinations. Expressing their opposition, a section of the aggrieved candidates demanded that an all-party meeting be convened to find a way forward.
In a video message, Suman Biswas said, “If we are able to speak directly with the Chief Minister and the Speaker, a resolution may be possible.”
The appeal comes amid growing unrest across the state, as thousands of job-seekers continue to protest against the cancellations and demand justice.
