Pratapgarh, 25 Sept (HS): A

police sub-inspector here has been charged with raping, blackmailing, and

terrorizing a woman under the guise of marriage, officials said on Thursday. Sub-Inspector Sujeet Kumar Yadav has been

suspended and is on the run since the case was filed on Tuesday, according to

officials. The complainant claims Yadav had been in a relationship with her for

some years. According to investigators,

the two met through social media while studying together. Yadav, a citizen of

Ghazipur district, has been stationed at Kohandaur police station since 2024,

they added.

The woman from Jhansi claimed that Yadav pursued

a physical relationship with her under the guise of marriage. He has held her in a leased house near the

Kohandaur police station and is now refusing to marry her, according to Deputy

Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prashant Raj. A case has been opened at the

Women's Police Station, and attempts are on to locate the missing officer,

according to the DSP.
