Lucknow,

24 Sept (HS): Addressing a press conference at the state office on Wednesday,

Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sudhanshu

Trivedi said that the opposition's lies about EVM hacking are being exposed. He

attacked opposition parties on the issue of vote theft, saying that they

previously accused EVMs of being hacked, but now they are alleging vote theft.

They were either wrong before or they are wrong now.

Sudhanshu

Trivedi said that the changes in GST rates have reduced taxes on food,

clothing, and housing for the common man. This government decision will empower

every ordinary person in India. This is a massive campaign to empower farmers

and laborers.

He

said that the general public now has increased spending power. Cement, a

building material, will now be subject to a 5% GST instead of 31%. Taxes on

food items range from zero to five%. GST on clothing has also been reduced.

Taxes on vehicles, hotels, and business-class services have also been reduced,

providing relief to both the public and businesses. The reduction in GST on

cars has resulted in record sales in a single day.

The

BJP spokesperson said that economic reforms have occurred step by step. First,

people's accounts were opened. Money came into Jan Dhan accounts through direct

transfers, and then digital transactions made money transactions possible. The

income tax limit was raised, and then GST rates were changed. It takes a

child's mind to understand these changes. The Prime Minister has also called

for Swadeshi. Mahatma Gandhi initiated the Swadeshi movement, and now this

campaign will continue under Modi's leadership.

Sudhanshu

Trivedi said that all decisions made in the GST Council to date have been

unanimous. All taxes imposed were done so with the consent of the states. When

the current GST decision was made, two states, Karnataka and Kerala, expressed

their disagreement. Himachal Pradesh, a Congress-ruled state, supported it.

When they realized that opposing the tax cut would backfire, Karnataka and

Kerala eventually signed the consensus. Therefore, Congress should not lie

about GST. Supporting the GST Council from within and criticizing it from

outside is the dual nature of the opposition.

On

the question of making diesel and petrol GST free, the BJP spokesperson said

that this decision is taken by the GST Council and for this the consent of all

the governments is necessary.
