Kanpur,
24 Sept (HS): Providing nutritious and adequate food to children is a priority
for the government. Pure and tasty food is essential for children's physical
and intellectual development. The government is continuously taking steps to
improve quality in this direction. Recently, the conversion cost of food has
been increased, which will further strengthen nutritional levels. Sandeep
Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Basic Education in the Uttar
Pradesh government, stated this on Wednesday.
Under
the PM Nutrition and Midday Meal Scheme, a groundbreaking ceremony was held
today for the construction of the Akshaya Patra Foundation's centralized
kitchen in Kanpur. The foundation was honored on this occasion. Currently, the
Akshaya Patra Foundation provides midday meals to approximately 10,000 children
in the Shastri Nagar and Kidwai Nagar development blocks of Kanpur. After the
construction of the new kitchen, this number will increase to 100,000 children
daily.
Currently,
the Akshaya Patra Foundation operates six kitchens in the state. This number
will be further expanded in the future. During the event, a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Akshaya Patra Foundation and Nayara
Energy in the presence of the Education Minister. Nayara Energy will provide
financial support to the Akshaya Patra Foundation under its CSR initiative.
On
this occasion, Divisional Assistant Education Director Dr. Santosh Kumar Rai,
Basic Education Officer Surjeet Singh, CSR Head of Nayara Energy Achintya
Singh, National President of Akshaya Patra Foundation Bharat Sabhadas, CMO
Dhananjay Ganju along with Block Education Officers, District Coordinators, a
large number of teachers and students were present.
