Washington, September 11(HS): Three former senior FBI officials have filed a federal lawsuit against FBI Director Kash Patel and US Attorney General Pam Bondi, accusing them of wrongful termination intended to appease President Donald Trump. The lawsuit claims Patel told staff he was compelled to dismiss agents involved in investigations related to Trump, with his own job security dependent on their removal.

The plaintiffs—Brian Driscoll, former acting FBI Director; Steven Jensen, former assistant director of the Washington field office; and Spencer Evans, former special agent in charge of the Las Vegas field office—allege violations of their First Amendment rights to free speech and association, as well as their Fifth Amendment right to due process. The suit also names the FBI, Department of Justice, and the Executive Office of the President as defendants.

Patel has previously asserted that personnel involved in alleged weaponization of the FBI were removed from leadership. The lawsuit challenges this claim, saying no evidence supports the firings as justified and alleges political motivations undermined national security by dismissing experienced agents.

The suit seeks reinstatement, back pay, and a declaratory judgment deeming the firings illegal. It also highlights the detrimental effect on public confidence in the FBI when leadership acts based on political pressure rather than investigative facts.
