10 Sept (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday paid emotional
tribute to the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Home Minister of
the country, Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on the occasion of his
138th birth anniversary. After paying floral tribute to the portrait of Pandit
Pant in the office premises of Gorakhnath temple, the Chief Minister said that
in the challenging circumstances after independence, Pandit Pant ji took
positive steps for the development of Uttar Pradesh.

Yogi, on behalf of the state government and the 25 crore people of the state,
paid homage to the sacred memories of Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on his birth
anniversary and paid tribute to him, calling him a true son of Mother India. On
this occasion, he said that Pant ji was born in Almora, Uttarakhand. He
participated enthusiastically in the country's freedom movement. He was a great
freedom fighter. After India's independence, he played an important role as the
first Chief Minister of the then United Province and UP after the first general
election.
The
Chief Minister said that being the first Chief Minister, Pant ji played an
unforgettable role in making the action plan for the development of Uttar
Pradesh. There were many challenges at that time due to hundreds of years of
slavery. The system was in disarray but Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant took
positive steps to fix it and bring UP to the forefront of development. After
serving as the Chief Minister of UP, Pant ji got the opportunity to serve as
the Home Minister of the country in 1954. While in this post, along with giving
the Rajbhasha formula, he also took forward the efforts made by Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel for the unity and integrity of the country. Mayor Dr.
Manglesh Shrivastava, MLC Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLA Vipin Singh, BJP's
Metropolitan Coordinator Rajesh Gupta etc. were present on this occasion.
