Guwahati, 10 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday paid tribute to eminent poet and thinker Nilamani Phookan on his birth anniversary.

Dr. Sarma remembered Phookan as a Padma Shri and Jnanpith awardee whose poems, rooted in deep symbolism, mirrored the societal concerns of his time. He said the poet’s literary contributions would continue to inspire generations to come.

Nilamani Phookan, regarded as one of the finest voices in Assamese literature, earned national acclaim for his unique poetic style and powerful reflections on human experiences.--------
