Dhemaji, 10 September (HS): In a strict move to curb the spread of swine flu, the Dhemaji district administration has imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of pork within a 10 km radius of the affected areas.

The decision comes after fresh cases of swine flu were detected in pigs across different parts of the state. Authorities have warned that anyone found violating the order will face strict action.

The announcement has drawn disappointment from pork lovers, many of whom expressed their feelings on social media.

Meanwhile, both the district administration and the health department have been put on high alert to prevent further spread of the disease.
