Yamuna Water Level in Delhi Nears Warning Mark, Authorities on Alert

Delhi, 9 August (H.S.): The water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi rose to 204.40 metres at the Old Railway Bridge at 9 a.m. on Saturday, edging close to the official warning level of 204.50 metres, according to government data.

Officials confirmed that the situation is under constant watch, with all concerned agencies instructed to implement precautionary measures to deal with any potential flood-like scenario. Rescue teams and monitoring units have been put on standby as part of preparedness efforts.

An official from the central flood control room stated that the primary reason for the surge is the large volume of water being released every hour from the Wazirabad and Hathnikund barrages. Authorities are urging residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant as further releases upstream could push water levels higher in the coming hours.
