Delhi, 9 August (H.S.): On the occasion of World Sanskrit Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to reviving and popularising the ancient language over the past decade.
Calling Sanskrit an “eternal source of knowledge and expression,” PM Modi noted that its influence is visible across diverse fields — from literature and philosophy to science and technology. He emphasised that the language continues to inspire generations and remains deeply rooted in India’s cultural heritage.
The Prime Minister also lauded scholars, teachers, students, and enthusiasts who have dedicated themselves to learning and promoting Sanskrit. Observed annually on the auspicious day of Shravan Purnima, World Sanskrit Day serves as a reminder of India’s rich linguistic legacy and the collective responsibility to preserve it for future generations.
