Railway employee's hand gets stuck in engine, train halts at Memari station hours


Hooghly, 8 August (H.S.) Howrah-Burdwan (Main) local halted at Memari railway station for about one and a half hours on Friday morning as the hand of a railway mechanical employee got stuck in the engine.

As per information, down Burdwan-Howrah (Main) local train left Burdwan station at 7:26 am. A railway mechanical employee was also in the engine of the train. When the train reached platform number 3 of Memari station, something fell in the engine of the train. While picking up the fallen material, the hand of the railway employee got stuck in the engine. His hand remained stuck in the engine for about an hour.

After the incident, the down train stood at the station for about one and a half hours. Arrangements were made to send the passengers by another train. On information, other railway employees reached the spot. After about an hour of hard work, the hand of the railway employee was safely taken out and the train left.

Eastern Railway Public Relations Officer Diptimay Dutta said, Due to technical fault in the engine, the down Burdwan-Howrah local train was halted at Memari station for about one and a half hours. After the technical fault was rectified, the train left for its destination.
