BJP Slams Tamil Nadu Government's Social Justice Hostel Plan

Chennai, 8 August (H.S.): The Tamil Nadu government's decision to merge various government-run hostels under the name Social Justice Hostels has drawn flak from BJP state president Nainar Nagendran. He has urged the government to drop the plan, calling it a politically motivated move that lacks a genuine focus on improving conditions.

According to Nainar Nagendran, the government should prioritize infrastructure and basic amenities in these hostels instead of just renaming them. He pointed out that issues such as shortage of teachers, inadequate drinking water, poor sanitation, and substandard food need to be addressed to establish true social justice.

The BJP leader also criticized the DMK's alliances with caste-based outfits and retention of leaders who make casteist remarks, saying it contradicts the government's stated commitment to social justice. Nainar Nagendran urged Chief Minister M K Stalin to withdraw the name-change decision and direct efforts towards repairing and upgrading existing facilities.

The government-run hostels have been alleged to be in a deplorable state, lacking basic infrastructure and posing serious health risks to students. It has been reported that some hostels do not have proper sanitation facilities, and students are even forced to clean the toilets themselves due to a lack of staff.

The conditions in these hostels have raised concerns about the government's commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for students. The BJP leader's criticism has sparked a debate about the government's priorities and its ability to deliver on its promises.

Nainar Nagendran's criticism serves as a call to action for the government to reassess its priorities and focus on providing better facilities for students. By addressing the existing issues and upgrading infrastructure, the government can work towards establishing true social justice and ensuring that students have access to quality education and living conditions.
