Chennai, 31 August (H.S.) : The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has given its approval for land lease proposals for battery storage projects at six substations operated by the Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation (TANTRANSCO). This move is expected to enhance the state's power grid stability and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources.
The battery storage projects will be implemented at TANTRANSCO substations in key locations across Tamil Nadu. These projects will help in storing excess energy generated from renewable sources like solar and wind power, which can then be utilized during peak demand periods or when renewable generation is low. This will not only improve grid reliability but also support the state's efforts to increase the share of clean energy in its power mix.
The TNERC's decision is seen as a significant step towards modernizing Tamil Nadu's power infrastructure and promoting sustainable energy practices. The implementation of these battery storage projects is expected to bring about greater efficiency and resilience in the state's power transmission system.
