Kanpur, 31 Aug (HS): A terrible occurrence in
Kanpur Dehat resulted in the deaths of three individuals and the serious injury
of another from toxic gas in a drainage tank. Victims walked in without any
protective gear. The inquiry is still underway, and police have not filed a FIR
yet. A man who has been hurt is treated at the hospital. According to police
reports on Sunday, the victims entered the tank without using any safety
equipment. Superintendent of Police Arvind Mishra confirmed the fatalities on
Saturday, blaming poisonous vapours in the 10-foot-deep tank. Mubeen (26) fell
while attempting to remove building debris from the tank. Surendra Gupta (22)
and Sarvesh Kushwaha (32) attempted to save him, but both failed. Mubeen's
brother, Israr (22), also entered the tank in an attempt to save Mubeen but fainted
as well. Locals were able to rescue the guys and transfer them to the district
hospital, where Mubeen, Sarvesh, and Surendra were certified dead while Israr
remains in serious condition. An inquiry is now underway, but no FIR has been
filed.
