Nagpur, 26 Aug

(HS): A woman journalist from Nagpur, Savita Mangal Kulkarni (Sakhare), was

arrested from her residence in Nagpur on Monday, for making a fake identity

card and entry pass during the winter session of the State Legislature in 2023.

Her colleague, Narendra Vairagade, was granted anticipatory bail by the court

earlier. Savita was eluding arrest.

Savita and

Narendra had obtained entry based on fake documents showing them to be

representatives of Pune-based New 10 channel. The then District Information

Officer Pravin Take, on suspicion, contacted the News 10 head office and sought

information from Maharashtra and Goa in-charge Vinod Kumar Jha. Savita and

Nartendra were not appointed by the news channel. A police complaint was then

filed.

On getting

information about Savita’s presence in Nagpur, the police arrested her from her

residence. Savita runs her own news channel in Nagpur.
