Aug (HS): The “ Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Outstanding Public Library
Award ” and “ Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Outstanding Library
Worker and Servant (Granthamitra) Award ” will be given for the
year 2024-25 by the Directorate of Libraries under the Department of Higher and
Technical Education of the State Government.
These awards aim to bring about qualitative development of government-approved
public libraries, provide more library services to the public, and enhance the
reading culture.
The best public
libraries in A, B, C, and D categories in urban and rural areas will be given cash
prizes of Rs one lakh, 75 thousand, 50 thousand and 20 thousand respectively, a
plaque, a certificate, and a book. Also, one state-level best library worker and
one state-level best book servant will be given an award of Rs 50 thousand
each. The workers and servants who have served for a long time in each revenue
department in the state will be given an award of Rs 25 thousand each.
Interested libraries, activists, and servants should send three copies of the
application form in the prescribed format along with the necessary documents to
their District Library Officer’s office by September 30, 2025, said Ashok
Gadekar, Director, Directorate of Libraries.
