Golaghat (Assam), 26 August (HS): Tension gripped Dergaon on Tuesday after a severed cow head was discovered in the Sakiyal area, prompting fears of communal unrest. Police forces have been deployed in the locality to maintain peace.
Golaghat Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Police have detained five individuals for questioning. The severed cow head was found in the courtyard of a family residing near a steel factory owned by Kohinoor Islam of Dubri.
In connection with the incident, Dergaon police have also detained the factory owner along with others for interrogation. Meanwhile, the Golaghat district unit of Veer Lachit Sena has urged the police to take strict action against the culprits and ensure exemplary punishment.------
