Chennai, 26 August (H.S.) : The Tamil Nadu government has issued a directive to all dog breeders, pet shops, and sellers to register with the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board by September 30. This move comes after a recent incident where a 48-year-old man was mauled to death by a pit bull in Chennai. The government aims to regulate dog breeding activities and prevent future incidents.

The registration will help in keeping a track of dog breeders and pet shops, ensuring that they follow the necessary rules and regulations. This will also help in preventing illegal breeding and promoting animal welfare. The government has made it clear that boarding centers engaged in dog breeding must comply with the directive.

The Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board, along with the Greater Chennai Corporation, will conduct inspections in suspected breeding areas to ensure compliance. The inspections will help in identifying unregistered dog breeders and pet shops, and action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the directive.
