Ballia,
26 Aug (HS): According to police, a man was detained in Ballia city on Tuesday
for reportedly murdering his wife over dowry demands. According to authorities,
Khushi Verma (25) died in strange circumstances on Sunday at her in-laws'
property, with her corpse discovered hanging inside. Her relatives stated that her in-laws
incinerated her body without telling the authorities. According to
Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh, a dowry death case was filed on Monday
against Khushi's husband Ravi Giri, brother-in-law Raju Giri, and mother-in-law
under relevant provisions of the law based on the complaint of Rinku Verma,
Khushi's brother. According to the FIR, Rinku said that Khushi married Ravi
Kumar Giri two and a half years ago and was being hounded for dowry by her
husband and family. He went on to say that on August 24, the accused
allegedly murdered her over the matter. According to Singh, Ravi Kumar Giri was
detained near Bandha Road in Bedua and jailed. He stated that efforts are being
made to arrest the two other suspects, who are still at large.
