New Delhi, August 26 (HS): Northern Railway on Tuesday announced the cancellation of more than ten passenger train services in the Jammu region in view of heavy rainfall, citing passenger safety as the top priority.
Northern Railway spokesperson Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said the decision was taken keeping in mind the safety of travelers amidst the prevailing weather conditions. “Passenger safety is the highest priority, which is why this step has been taken,” he underlined.
Senior railway officials, including the Northern Railway General Manager and the Jammu Divisional Railway Manager, are stationed in Pathankot along with technical teams and are closely monitoring the situation. Authorities have assured that all further decisions will be based on real-time assessments of weather and track conditions.
