Kolkata, 26 August (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday paid heartfelt tribute to Mother Teresa on her birth anniversary, describing her as an eternal symbol of peace, brotherhood and humanity.
In a message shared on X, Banerjee said, “Mother was the embodiment of selfless service and love for humanity. She showed the world how far compassion for people can go.”
The Chief Minister recalled her personal association with the Nobel laureate, expressing pride in having had the opportunity to work in close proximity with her. “It was my great fortune to come into her presence and to work alongside her. Many of our initiatives in food security, healthcare, and social protection were inspired by her example,” she added.
Banerjee further wrote that Mother Teresa’s legacy continues to inspire millions across the globe, transcending the boundaries of race, religion, and nationality, encouraging all to work for the welfare of humanity.
