Shribhumi (Assam), 26 August (HS): Residents of Patharkandi apprehended four bike thieves along with several stolen motorcycles and handed them over to the police. The arrested thieves have been identified as Sultan Ahmad and Sahil Ahmad of Badyail village, Rizwan Ahmad of Kabari Band, and Mamun Al Amin.
According to police, all four, despite being young, are involved in professional bike theft. Locals said the gang was notorious for stealing motorcycles within minutes. On Saturday, during a football match at Pekargao, a Pulsar bike (AS-10F-3995) belonging to Sifaar Uddin of Sengjour village was stolen, following which a complaint was lodged at Patharkandi police station.
On Monday, villagers noticed three youths riding a bike without a number plate in Manikpara area. Upon suspicion, they caught the trio along with a stolen bike and handed them to police. During investigation, Mamun Al Amin was also arrested with two more stolen bikes.
Police said they have recovered at least three stolen motorcycles so far and are continuing interrogation to trace further cases linked to the gang.
