Dhaka, August 26 (HS): In a historic announcement, the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday revealed through a Facebook post that Shariful M. Khan has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Air Force. He is the first Bangladeshi-American to attain this position in the U.S. military.
“Congratulations to Brigadier General Shariful M. Khan — a true example of American excellence and a trailblazer for the Bangladeshi-American community,” the embassy wrote.
According to The Daily Star, the embassy also highlighted that Brigadier General Khan epitomizes dedication, service, and the core values of protecting the homeland while advancing U.S. security.
Currently serving as Staff Director at the Golden Dome for America at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, Brigadier General Khan brings extensive operational expertise in space control, launch, and satellite operations through his association with the National Reconnaissance Office.
A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he was commissioned in 1997 and has since built a distinguished career in national defense and advanced space operations.
