Kokrajhar (Assam), 26 August (HS): The Assam State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. Polling will be held on September 22, and counting of votes will take place on September 26.

The last date for filing nominations is September 2, scrutiny of nominations will be held on September 4 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is September 6.

Elections will be conducted for all 40 council constituencies of BTC, out of which 30 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, 5 for non-tribal communities and 5 are kept open for all communities.

Voting will take place from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. A total of 26,57,937 voters are eligible to cast their votes, including 13,23,399 male voters and 13,34,521 female voters.
