Mumbai, 25 Aug (HS): Maratha leader in Maharashtra
Manoj Jarange has given an ultimatum to the State Government to announce
reservation for the Maratha community in two days. Jarange has announced a
morcha ‘Chalo Mumbai’ from August to stage demonstrations at Mumbai’s Azad
Maidan from August 29.
While addressing a press conference on Monday,
Jarange said he would not buckle down unless reservation is granted to Marathas. He
threatened to block traffic as part of the agitation, but he will not trouble
anyone. The ‘Chalo Mumbai’ march will move via Chakan and not via Kalyan. The State
Government announced the issuance of Kunbi caste certificates to Marathas to grant
reservation to them under the Kunbi quota. Jarange, however, wanted a 10 percent separate
reservation for Marathas. The ‘Chalo Mumbai; march will start from Antarwali in
Jalna district on August 27.
