Jalpaiguri, 25 August (H.S.): At least three persons were killed and 13 others injured in a road accident that took place on Nagarkata National Highway in Jalpaiguri district on Monday. As per information, a Bolero vehicle went out of control and overturned. The condition of many of the injured is said to be critical.

With the help of local people, the injured were admitted to Mall Super Specialty Hospital and Sulkapaada Rural Hospital in Nagarkata. Heavy police force was deployed on the spot. Nagarkata BDO Pankaj Konar and IC Kaushik Karmakar also reached the spot and helped in the rescue work.

The reasons for the accident have not been clearly known yet. However, local people alleged that the driver lost control due to the slope of the road. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and the complaints of the local people are also being taken seriously.

It is learnt that the Bolero was going from Kherkata to Gathia Tea Garden. Most of the workers in the vehicle were from the tea garden. Three workers died on the spot and 13 others were injured in the accident.

On information, Panchayat Samiti President Sanjay Kujur, Panchayat members Latiful Islam and Mazrul Haque also reached the spot and helped in taking the injured to the hospital. At the same time, Block Health Officer Dr. Irfan Mollah Hussain himself got involved in the treatment at Sulkapaada Rural Hospital.
