Hojai (Assam), 25 August (HS): In a major crackdown on smuggling of prohibited items, the Lumding Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized 13.5 kg of Marijuana from Kanchanjunga Express. The seizure was made during a special operation conducted jointly by RPF and the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) at Lumding Junction.
According to RPF sources, the contraband was recovered from coaches S-4 and S-5 of train number 13174 down Kanchanjunga Express, which runs along the Agartala–Lumding route—often used as a corridor for smuggling. The seized marijuana is estimated to be worth millions of rupees.
No arrests have been made so far. The recovered consignment has been handed over to Lumding Government Railway Police (GRP) for further legal action.
