New Delhi, August 25(HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day visit to Gujarat starting today, inaugurating and dedicating development projects worth over ₹5,400 crore at Ahmedabad’s Khodaldham ground. The projects span urban development, energy, roads, and railways, underscoring swift progress across sectors.
At around 6 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple key initiatives. Following this, he will address a public gathering, highlighting these landmark achievements.
On August 26, at approximately 10:30 AM, PM Modi will inaugurate the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and flag off the export of Suzuki’s first global Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) “e VITARA” from the Hansalpur plant in Ahmedabad, destined for over 100 countries, including advanced markets like Europe and Japan. This milestone marks India’s emergence as Suzuki’s global EV manufacturing hub and a major stride towards green energy self-reliance under the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
In a boost to Gujarat’s transport infrastructure, PM Modi will dedicate multiple railway projects worth over ₹1,400 crore, including the doubling of the 65 km Mahesana-Palanpur rail line and gauge conversions of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan and Bechraji-Ranuj lines. These upgrades promise smoother, safer travel and improved connectivity for commuters, tourists, and businesses alike. Additionally, he will flag off a passenger train between Katosan Road and Sabarmati and inaugurate a freight train service from Bechraji, enhancing access to industrial hubs and boosting economic activity.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate road widening on the Viramgam–Khudad–Rampura route, lay foundation stones for six-lane vehicle underpasses on the Ahmedabad–Mehsana–Palanpur road, and a railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad–Viramgam road. These projects aim to elevate transport efficiency and drive regional industrial growth.
Power sector advancements include the inauguration of power distribution projects worth over ₹1,000 crore across Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar under the Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL), focused on reducing outages and strengthening infrastructure.
Urban initiatives include the development of slum rehabilitation under PMAY (U) at Ramapir No Tekro, road widening on the Sardar Patel Ring Road to ease traffic, and key urban infrastructure projects enhancing water and sewerage systems.
Further strengthening public services, PM Modi will lay the foundation for a new Stamps and Registration Building in Ahmedabad West and a State-Level Data Storage Centre in Gandhinagar, boosting citizen-centric services and digital governance.
Concluding the visit, the twin inaugurations at Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant highlight India’s ascendancy as a global green mobility hub, showcasing technological innovation and manufacturing resilience.
