Bishwanath (Assam), 25 August (HS): In a late evening operation, Gohpur police arrested a man with 10 kilograms of cannabis in Bishwanath district, official sources confirmed on Monday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Arun Behera of Kanibari village, who had allegedly been involved in the illegal cannabis trade for a long time. Acting on a tip-off, police recovered the contraband from his goat shed.
According to sources, Behera was running the business using trains to transport cannabis. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹50,000 in the market. Police have taken him into custody and further investigation is underway.---------
