Kochi, August 25(HS): The city’s waterfront at Marine Drive Ground is set to turn into a vibrant hub of crafts, cuisine, and culture as the 5th edition of Lok Samvardhan Parv begins on August 26. Organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the 10-day festival will run till September 4 and will be inaugurated by George Kurian, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying.
Marking its debut in Kerala, the festival is designed to empower artisans, weavers, craftspersons, culinary experts, and entrepreneurs from minority communities by offering them market exposure and national linkages. Over 100 artisans and 15 culinary specialists from across India will showcase their talent, presenting everything from Zari and Chikankari embroidery of Uttar Pradesh to Pashmina weaving from Ladakh, Phulkari of Punjab, Madhubani paintings of Bihar, Bastar iron craft of Chhattisgarh, Channapatna toys of Karnataka, and Kerala’s own celebrated Nettippattam craft.
The culinary segment promises flavours from across India—from spiced pickles and herbal preparations to coastal delicacies and traditional bakery delights. Live demonstrations and cultural performances will add rhythm and colour to the festival, making it a holistic celebration of diversity.
With its previous editions in Delhi and Srinagar earning wide acclaim, the Kochi edition is expected to carry forward the spirit of economic empowerment, cultural exchange, and inclusive development.
Entry is free for the public, with exhibitions and performances scheduled daily from 10 AM to 7 PM.
