Srinagar, 25 August (H.S.): Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi today said that Kashmir deserves its own film industry and that more stories should emerge from the Valley.
Speaking to reporters after launching her book “Zeba: An Accidental Superhero” during the centenary celebrations of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) here, Qureshi said Kashmir is rich in culture and art, which must be promoted.
“Kashmir should have its own film industry. There are so many stories, folklore, songs, culture, and poetry here that deserve to be told. We should promote them, and definitely, we should have more stories out of Kashmir,” she said.
Qureshi added that she feels deeply connected to the Valley as Srinagar is her maternal home.
“It feels wonderful to be here. Coming to Srinagar always makes me happy as it brings alive old memories,’ she said.
“My mother is from here, and seeing my family members in the audience cheering me during the launch made it even more special, though I was missing her.”
The actress also revealed that her team is planning something in Kashmir soon.
Speaking about her debut book, Qureshi said it tells the story of a female superhero who sets out to change the world.
“It is a very interesting story, and when you read it, you will know why. I am so happy to share it here in Srinagar,” she added.
Notably, Qureshi’s book is rich with imagination and deep emotion, presenting a journey of bravery, transformation, and the ultimate victory of the human spirit over adversity.
