New Delhi, Aug 25 (HS): The Delhi High Court on Monday declined to stay trial court proceedings against BJP MP Gautam Gambhir and others in a case related to alleged hoarding of Covid-19 medicines and oxygen during the second wave of the pandemic. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna directed that Gambhir’s plea seeking quashing of the FIR be listed for hearing on August 29.
The case is pending before a Rohini court, where the Delhi Drug Controller had filed an FIR against Gambhir, his NGO Gautam Gambhir Foundation, its CEO Aparajita Singh, and family members Seema Gambhir and Natasha Gambhir under Section 18(C) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
The prosecution was initiated on July 8, 2021, accusing the foundation and its officials of unauthorized stocking of Covid medicines. Similar action was also launched against AAP legislators Praveen Kumar and Imran Hussain for alleged hoarding of medicines and oxygen cylinders, following inquiries under Sections 18(C) and 27(B) of the Act.
According to the charges, the Gautam Gambhir Foundation allegedly hoarded medicines for medical camps, while Hussain is accused of acquiring oxygen from the Haryana Drug Control Department without authorization.
