New Delhi, August 25 (HS): The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a historic milestone, surpassing a cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of ₹15 lakh crore since its launch in 2016, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Monday.
The ministry said the achievement not only marks rapid growth in transactions but also reflects the strong trust reposed in the platform by buyers and sellers across the country.
GeM CEO Mihir Kumar hailed the milestone as a testament to the confidence of millions of stakeholders. “Crossing ₹15 lakh crore in GMV is a collective success of sellers and buyers who have transformed public procurement in India,” he said, adding that the focus will remain on inclusivity, simplification, and innovation to expand opportunities nationwide.
Over the past nine years, GeM has evolved into a robust digital procurement ecosystem, bringing together a wide community of government buyers and diverse sellers—including MSMEs, startups, women-led enterprises, SC/ST entrepreneurs, and self-help groups.
