New Delhi, August 25 (HS): E-commerce giant Flipkart has announced a major expansion of its workforce ahead of the upcoming festive season, unveiling plans to generate more than 2.2 lakh temporary jobs across the country.

The company said the hiring spree will focus on strengthening its supply chain, logistics, and last-mile delivery operations in preparation for its flagship shopping festival, 'The Big Billion Days'. Roles on offer include pickers, packers, sorters, and delivery executives.

Flipkart added that the employment drive spans 28 states and will also enhance opportunities for women—whose recruitment is set to rise by 10 percent—as well as for persons with disabilities.

To support the surge in festive demand, the e-commerce platform will open 650 new supply centers in small and medium towns. The company said this expansion is aimed at improving its delivery speed, accuracy, and capacity to handle high-volume orders nationwide.
