Jorhat (Assam), 25 August (HS): The Tirobhav Tithi (death anniversary) of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev is being observed across Assam on Monday with deep devotion and reverence. Naam-kirtan, prayers and cultural programs are being held in satras and Namghars across the state to commemorate the spiritual leader who laid the foundation of Assam’s cultural identity.
The atmosphere in Namghars and satras has been filled with devotional hymns and chants of Hari’s name, transforming them into centers of spiritual harmony. At the historic Dhekiajuli Bornaamghar in Titabor, elaborate arrangements have been made to honor the saint’s legacy.
As part of the observance, students of the Madhavdev Music School began the day with naam-prasang, filling the surroundings with soulful devotional songs. People from all walks of life are offering their respects, recalling the contributions of Srimanta Sankardev in fostering unity, culture and devotion in Assamese society.
