Cachar (Assam), 25 August (HS): Acting on intelligence inputs, Cachar police arrested three individuals for trafficking heroin in an auto-rickshaw.

Cachar SP informed on Monday that the accused have been identified as Ubeir Ali (30), Rajak Ali (26) and Moiz Ali (30), all hailing from Darrang district. Police recovered 83 grams of heroin, concealed in seven plastic soap cases and strapped to their bodies.

The contraband, valued at around ₹41.5 lakh in the black market, was seized in the presence of independent witnesses. A drug detection kit confirmed the substance as heroin.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the network behind the smuggling.
