Guwahati, 25 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday paid rich tributes to Srimanta Sankardeva on the occasion of his Tirubhav Tithi.
Dr Sarma said that Srimanta Sankardeva was the soul and guiding light of Assamese society, who united the people through the eternal bond of devotion and harmony. He added that Sankardeva’s legacy will continue to inspire generations and the name “Assamese” will live on in the hearts of people as long as the chant “Joi Guru Sankar” resounds.
The Chief Minister further stated that it is the duty and responsibility of every Assamese to preserve and promote the golden heritage left by the saint. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to carry forward this journey of cultural preservation with the support of the people of Assam.
