Karbi Anglong (Assam), 25 August (HS): Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang, has been spearheading a massive tree plantation drive across the district by undertaking a bike tour for the past two weeks.

The drive, launched with the goal of planting 2.6 million saplings across 26 council areas, is progressing steadily. As part of the initiative, 10,000 saplings are being planted in each council area, with forest department officials directed to ensure proper care of the plantations.

On Monday morning, Ronghang set off with his team from Dimapur towards Chinthong council area near the Meghalaya border in West Karbi Anglong, covering a distance of 210 km. The group is scheduled to halt overnight and participate in a membership drive during the journey.

The unique bike campaign by CEM Ronghang has drawn wide public attention, inspiring locals to join hands in protecting nature. With such efforts, officials expressed confidence that the lush greenery of Karbi Anglong will be preserved for future generations.
