Hooghly, 24 August (H.S.) A woman was allegedly murdered in Bilatpur area under Dadpur police station in Hooghly district in a family feud. The accused husband is currently absconding.
According to sources, Rajab Ali was married to Manjura Khatun a few years ago. There were differences between the couple since the marriage. Manjura had lodged a complaint of bride harassment against her husband. Based on the complaint, the police had called Rajab to the police station.
On Saturday night, Rajab called Manjura and threatened her that if I have to go to jail, I will kill you first. Out of fear, Manjura tried to go to a relative's house with her children. She was caught near Bilatpur and it is alleged that she was beaten to death.
The woman who was with Manjura informed her family. The police reached the spot at night and the body was recovered and sent to Chuchura Imambara Hospital, where the post-mortem was conducted. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to police, the accused husband Rajab Ali is still absconding and his search is on.
