Chennai, 24 August (H.S.): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will be the chief guest at the expansion event of the state's breakfast scheme for school children on August 26. The scheme, which aims to provide nutritious breakfast to students, will be expanded to cover more schools, benefiting around 20.59 lakh students.

The event marks a significant milestone in the state's efforts to improve the health and well-being of its school-going children. The breakfast scheme, launched in September 2022, has been successful in improving attendance and attention in schools. With the expansion, government-aided schools in urban areas will also be covered under the scheme.

CM Stalin highlighted the importance of the scheme, saying that it provides not just food, but manure for growth to the students. The scheme is part of the state's efforts to promote social welfare and ensure that no child is left behind due to hunger or malnutrition. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's participation in the event underscores the significance of Tamil Nadu's welfare models, which are being looked at as examples by leaders elsewhere in India.
