New Delhi, Aug 24 (HS): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with several other leaders, on Sunday paid floral tributes to senior BJP leader and former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at his statue in Arun Jaitley Park on his death anniversary.

The programme was attended by BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Bansuri Swaraj and Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley with family members.

Remembering Arun Jaitley, CM Rekha Gupta said his remarkable journey—from legal excellence to parliamentary brilliance—exemplified sharp intellect, thoughtful vision and unwavering commitment to public service. His powerful oratory, clarity of perspective and deep sense of nationalism continue to inspire generations, she added.

Gupta further recalled that Jaitley, who began his public life with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad during his student days, played a pivotal role in defending democracy during the Emergency. Rising from organisation to Parliament, he showed exemplary leadership, and as Finance Minister, his legacy includes the landmark rollout of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which gave India’s economy a new direction.

“Arun Jaitley’s simplicity, foresight and dedication to national interest will remain a constant source of inspiration for all of us,” the Chief Minister said.
