Nagon (Assam), 24 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a newly built gateway in Nagon district, the birthplace of the state’s spiritual and cultural icon, Srimanta Sankardeva. The gateway has been constructed to facilitate travelers and mark the district’s rich cultural identity.
Taking to social media on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that the gateway has been set up at the entry point from Guwahati towards Nagon town and also at the starting section of the Upper Assam bypass to ease commuters’ difficulties.
Describing the gateway as a symbolic structure, Dr. Sarma said it would welcome pilgrims and tourists to the land of Sankardeva while showcasing Nagon’s vibrant cultural heritage.
He also appreciated the efforts of Nagon MLA Rupak Sarma in making the initiative possible.
