Kolkata, 23 August (H.S.): Former West Bengal BJP president and Balurghat MP Dr Sukanta Majumdar has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress. In a post on micro-blogging site X on Saturday, he raised the question, “Are Md. Abdur Razzak, a national identity card holder of the Bangladesh government, and Razzak Sarkar, a voter of booth number 101 of Kumarganj Assembly in South Dinajpur district, the same person?”

Dr Majumdar said that identification of such cases is extremely necessary to ensure national security and create a transparent voter list. He alleged that this is the reason why the Trinamool Congress and its “failed Chief Minister” Mamata Banerjee are so opposed to the SIR process.

He directly challenged the Chief Minister and said, “No matter how much Mamata Banerjee protests, the National Election Commission will ensure that no illegal intruder can vote in the 2026 assembly elections. National security and the safety of the legitimate citizens of the state will be ensured under all circumstances. If Mamata Banerjee has the guts, she should stop this.”
