Washington, DC , August 21(HS): The Trump administration has announced a sweeping review of more than 55 million valid US visa holders, intensifying its crackdown on both legal and undocumented migration. The State Department confirmed that all foreign nationals with US visas are under continuous vetting and risk revocation if found in violation of immigration rules, ranging from overstays and criminal activity to suspected links with terrorism.

The move came ahead of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s abrupt decision to halt the issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers, citing concerns that foreign drivers threatened public safety and undercut American truckers.

Since taking office in January, President Donald Trump has escalated immigration enforcement, with mass workplace raids and courthouse arrests pushing annual deportations towards an estimated 400,000. Humanitarian parole and Temporary Protected Status have also come under attack, threatening the legal standing of hundreds of thousands.

Student visa holders have emerged as a key target, with 6,000 visas revoked this year alone. While officials allege violations and ties to terrorism, rights groups argue that many students were penalized for exercising free speech, such as participating in pro-Palestinian demonstrations or publishing opinion pieces critical of US policy.

What started as a pledge to pursue “dangerous criminals” has expanded into one of the most aggressive immigration enforcement drives in modern US history, raising alarms over civil liberties and the fate of millions making lives within the United States.
