Solapur, 22 Aug (HS): The long-awaited demand to introduce an air service between Solapur and Mumbai is expected to start by September this year.
The Director General of Civil Aviation (DHCA) has cleared the proposal, and the
Maharashtra Airports Authority has signed an MoU with Star Air, Solapur
District Collector Kumar Ashirwad informed the media.
Star India is likely to start booking tickets
soon. The air service will boost industry, trade, education, and tourism in
the Solapur region.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his
colleagues in the ministry have taken the initiative by earmarking Rs 14 crore Viability
Gap Funding under the ‘Udaan’ scheme to start Solapur-Pune-Mumbai air service.
