Medical, engineering admissions hit in Bengal Tathagata Roy slams state govt

Kolkata, 22 August (H.S.) The admission process in about 460 colleges of West Bengal is stalled. This also includes medical and engineering colleges. Due to this, the college administration, candidates and their parents are in a state of confusion.

Former Governor Tathagata Roy has strongly criticized the state government on this issue. On Friday, he wrote in his X post that the main reason for the disruption of the admission process is the state government's attempt to implement OBC reservation for Muslims, while the court has clearly refused to approve it.

Roy said that due to this the education system is suffering huge losses. According to him, Such damage was neither done during the rule of Jyoti Basu nor during the time of Suhrawardy. The education system has not suffered such damage in any other part of the country.

He also alleged that the so-called intellectuals of the state are silent on this serious situation.
