Banda, 22 Aug (HS): Baberu police station has arrested an
accused while exposing an illegal arms manufacturing factory. A large quantity
of manufactured and semi-manufactured pistols, cartridges and arms
manufacturing equipment have been recovered from the spot. The arrested accused
has previously also gone to jail in the case of illegal arms manufacturing.
Area Magistrate Baberu Saurabh Singh said, “During patrolling and checking, the
police received information that illegal pistols were being manufactured in the
forest near Shahidan Dera across Gadra Nala in village Nibhaur. Taking
immediate action on the information, the police cordoned off the spot and
caught a person while making illegal arms. 05 pistols of 315 bore, 02 pistols
of 12 bore, 01 semi-manufactured pistol of 315 bore, 02 live cartridges of 12
bore, 01 live cartridge of 315 bore, 01 missed cartridge and 01 empty cartridge
of 315 bore were recovered from the spot. Apart from this, a large quantity of
weapons manufacturing equipment including bellows, chisels, hammers, saws,
sandpaper, springs, blades, weights etc. were also seized.
The arrested accused has been identified as Rambhajan Nishad son
of Devlal Nishad resident of Tarsian Dera, Majra Nibhaur police station Baberu
district Banda. According to police records, four criminal cases are already
registered against the accused and he has previously gone to jail in the case
of illegal arms manufacturing.
During police interrogation, the accused revealed that he used
to manufacture illegal guns and sell them for Rs. 5000-6000 per gun in Banda
and nearby districts. At present, the police is investigating to whom the
accused has supplied weapons. Police officials say that a thorough
investigation is being conducted in this case and further legal action will be
taken after identifying the network of illegal weapons.
