Mirzapur, 22 Aug (HS): A middle aged cleric died after being hit
by a train near Narayanpur railway crossing in Adalhat police station area on
Friday morning. As soon as the incident was known, the GRP police along with
the nearby villagers also reached the spot. Anwarul Haq (70), a resident of
Bhomar village, was a Maulvi in a madrasa in the nearby Shahpur village. On Friday
at around 10:30 am, he left for the madrasa as usual. When the railway gate at
Narayanpur was closed, he tried to cross the track on foot. During this time,
he was hit by a train coming on the up line and died on the spot.
The deceased was originally from Dedhgaon, Jamnia (Ghazipur),
but currently lived in his in-laws' house in Bhoramar. About two years ago, his
only son Eklam had died of illness. His wife Tajbun Nisha, grandson Asif and
granddaughter Nazia are mourning at home. Family members said that the deceased
had returned from Umrah pilgrimage a few days ago.
As soon as the information of the incident was received, a crowd
of villagers gathered on the spot. On receiving the information, the GRP Chunar
police station reached the spot and took necessary action and sent the body for
post-mortem.
